Update on Hindu Heritage Month celebrations past weekend

9th November 2021 – In separate events across GTA, celebrations for the Hindu Heritage Month continued this past weekend.

Hindu Forum Canada organized another successful Hindu Heritage month celebrations event at ISKCON Brampton on Sunday. Political leaders across different parties graced the occasion with their presence. All VIPs were presented with copies of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita to understand Hindu philosophy and Dharma.

The political leaders who attended the event included MPP Deepak Anand from Malton-Mississauga, Deputy Leader of the NDP, MPP Sara Singh, Streetville-Mississauga Liberal MP Richie Valdez, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, Brampton City Councilors Charmaine Williams and Gurpreet Singh Dhillon. Hindu Forum Canada also donated two boxes of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita to ISKCON temple for further distribution. In another event at Markham, Hindu Heritage Month was celebrated at Vedic Cultural Society, in a Joint Programme of Arya Samaj Markham, Vishwa Hindu Parishad Canada, Divya Durga Jyoti Hindu Society and United Hindus Federation of Canada with support from the City of Markham.

Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade of Canada, Member of Provincial Parliament Logan Kanapathi, Deputy Mayor of Markham Don Hamilton and Councillor Isa Lee were present to mark the occasion and give their best wishes to those present. An autobiography by Shyam Tripathi detailing his life struggles, hard-work, life as an immigrant from a small village followed by eventual success in Canada was inaugurated and launched by the dignitaries in his presence. Surinder Sharma, Sr. Executive member of VHP Canada addressed the congregation detailing the organization’s work and philosophy for a progressive, peaceful and harmonious society.
