Police charges one after Gas Station carjacking in Brampton

22nd May 2022 – Peel Regional Police has charged a 30-year-old man named Gurmeet Singh after a recent carjacking in Brampton.

On Saturday, 14th May 2022, at 9:30 a.m., it is alleged that the suspect attempted to steal a vehicle while the victim was pumping gas at a gas station in the area of Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive in Brampton, but was unsuccessful as the keys were not in the vehicle at the time. The suspect fled the scene.

However, after approximately 20 minutes later, the same suspect approached another victim at the same location. The suspect asked the victim to exit their vehicle to look at something at the rear of their vehicle. Once the victim exited, the suspect entered the vehicle and attempted to leave. The victim tried to intervene but was pushed to the ground. The victim received minor injuries as a result. The suspect fled the area in the stolen vehicle.

The Bureau Investigators later located and arrested the suspect and recovered the stolen vehicle.

Gurmeet Singh, 30, no fixed address has been charged with:

  • Theft over $ 5,000
  • Robbery
  • Wear disguise with intent
