This is what Hindu Forum Canada has written to Ontario’s Anti-Racism Directorate

6th April 2022 – Today, the Hindu Forum Canada (HFC) has sent their official written submission to Ontario’s Anti-Racism Directorate (ARD) which aims to eliminate racism and ensure that systemic racism and hate do not reduce social and economic opportunities for people in Ontario.

The letter refers to the growing Hinduphobia in Canada and how Hindus are often subject to online hate. At times, they have to suffer verbal, physical and mental abuse.

Through this letter, HFC has raised three major points, namely, misappropriation of Swastika as Nazi Symbol, the issue of assigning incorrect racial identity to people coming from India and the study of Indus Valley Civilization in the elementary school curriculum.

HFC has requested ARD to set-up a committee which can develop further understanding on these matters and recommend corrective actions.

Individuals and community organizations can take advantage of this opportunity and share their anonymous feedback with the provincial government.

Here are the links to know more about the survey. The last date of submit your feedback is 4th May 2022.
