Man charged in collision investigation; had fled from crime scene

17th August 2023 – Investigators of Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged one 40-year-old man, Gurpreet Hehar, in a vehicle collision investigation in the City of Brampton.

On 3rd August 2023, at around 7:30 p.m., a four-vehicle collision took place in the area of Airport Road and Clark Boulevard in Brampton. Investigators believe that Gurpreet caused the accident and was driving a black stolen 2016 Dodge Ram pick-up truck. He fled the scene of foot.

Unfortunately, a female adult and two children in this accident have been injured with life-altering injuries.

Gurpreet Hehar, 40, has been charged with the below charges.

  • Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm (x 4)
  • Fail to remain causing bodily harm (x 4)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Dangerous operation (x 2)
  • Fail to remain (x 2)
  • Operating while prohibited (x 5)

The accused has a province-wide driving prohibition due to multiple prior offences including impaired driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. Previously, he had been convicted for dangerous driving, flight while pursued by peace officer, taking a motor vehicle without consent and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
