2nd October 2021 – Dubai Expo 2020 has begun with style yesterday. Over 190 participants would represent their countries for a period of 6 months and India has begun this journey with the establishment of a permanent pavilion at the event. This means that the pavilion would exist even after the Expo is over. Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, has called this pavilion as the ‘Pragati Maidan’ overseas.
The India Pavilion is a massive 8,750 sqm. state-of-the-art exhibition with 4 floors. It brings with it the brilliant mix of Ayurveda, Yoga, Space Program and a growing US $2.5 trillion economy. The visitors at the pavilion would be welcomed with an all-digital experience, on demand touch menus, 3-D AR projection systems across all floors, VR pods and mirror finished floors with LED surround projection.
The first floor would bring a world of mesmerizing projections and mirrors that present a kaleidoscope of India’s colors and cultural vibrance. The second-floor bears witness to India’s bilateral partnership with the UAE and the plethora of opportunities that this partnership opens up. The third floor will open doors to the ‘Corporate India’ and its growing prowess in various sectors. The first floor would also exhibit a replica of Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
What makes the pavilion jaw-dropping is the fact that it also has a moving façade. Made up of 600 individual blocks, the facade will be using kinetic architecture – a mosaic of rotating panels that will showcase 75 stories about the history, and literature of the country over 26 weeks. The pavilion would be open to visitors from 10:00 to 22:00. It has been designed by New Delhi based CP Kukreja Architects.
