Several including a teen arrested in Mississauga for dangerous and careless driving

9th July 2025 – Officers from the Safer Roads Team (SRT) have made arrests and laid several charges after videos posted to social media showed reckless driving during a meet in Mississauga.

A video posted online showed a white Audi SUV, a white Mitsubishi Lancer, and a White Toyota Prius driving recklessly, swerving on the roadway and into oncoming traffic, forcing other motorists to pull over to avoid collisions, all while passengers stood through the sunroof or hung from passenger windows. This driving behaviour placed the passengers of those vehicles and the surrounding public at risk.

SRT officers were able to determine that the driving offences took place on May 25, 2025, on Platinum Drive near the Ridgeway Plaza. With the help of videos posted to social media, officers identified several individuals involved.

Yazzeed Alshawabkeh (28), Amer Alykid (21), Faisal Al-Azzam (21), and a 16-year-old male who cannot be identified were charged and/or arrested for both criminal and provincial offences, including:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Careless Driving
  • Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver
  • Passenger – Fail to Occupy Position with a Seatbelt
  • Permit Motor Vehicle to be Operated Without Insurance
