How is this organization working towards reconciling science and religion?

2nd June 2023 – Anyone with basic school level science education must have heard of Albert Einstein’s ground-breaking ‘Theory of Relativity’. The theory essentially means that mass and energy are the same physical entity and can be changed into each other. The famous equation expressed scientifically is e = mc2. Prior to this theory being discovered and proven to the world, mass and energy were viewed as distinct entities.

In Hinduism, that is, Sanatan Dharma, the philosophy of non-duality or “advaita” is known since the times of Vedas and Upanishads. A California-based science organization called ‘Science and Non-Duality’ or SAND has been working for years now to reconcile between science and religion.

According to its website, SAND “brings together scientists, philosophers, spiritual teachers and mystics for an exploration of the new paradigm emerging in spirituality that is grounded in cutting-edge science and consistent with the ancient wisdom of non-duality – the deep interconnectedness of life.”

As the Upanishads state “Aham Brahmasmi” and “Tatvam-asi”, SAND also considers this as their starting point “we are all one”. It considers that duality between the observer and the observed is an illusion that the Eastern mystics have long recognized and Western science has more recently come to understand through quantum mechanics.

SAND’s website has big number of articles and videos on the subject of religion, spirituality and mysticism.
