18th June 2025 – 13-year-old, Atharv Sharma, who is a member of the Brampton Barracudas Lifesaving Club at Brampton YMCA, won 2 Bronze medals at the Annual Provincial Lifesaving Swimming Meet that took place at Markham Pan Am Centre this past weekend.
The events, in the age category 12-13, where he got his medals were 100 Meter Lifesaving Medley and 50 Meter Manikin Carry Half.
He finished the 100 Meter Lifesaving Medley with his individual best of 1:32.07. In the other event of 50 Meter Manikin Carry Half as well, he broke his individual best with 43.26 seconds.
The annual provincials at Markham Pan Am Centre is the biggest lifesaving competitive event that takes place in Ontario in the month of June each year. It is open to the members of lifesaving clubs who are in the age groups 9 and under up to 16 years of age.
In this year’s meet, over 250 members from 15 clubs across Ontario participated. Currently, in Brampton, there are two lifesaving clubs, Brampton Barracudas Lifesaving Club at Brampton YMCA and Brampton Lifesaving Club at City of Brampton.
