Attacks on Ruchi Wali are ugly and vile, but she is standing strong

25th February 2024 – Ruchi Wali, a resident of Pickering in the Greater Toronto Area has been facing vile and ugly attacks on her social media accounts.

Ruchi filed for a nomination for candidacy with Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) from the Pickering-Brooklin constituency in May 2023. Since then, she has been under attack from online trolls and some even popular accounts on X.

“It is blatant Hindu hate”, says Ruchi.  She is married to a Sikh man and her family carries the values of both religions, Hinduism and Sikhism. “Both my husband and I have deep reverence for Hindu Gods and Sikh gurus. We visit Mandir and Gurudwara with equal respect. We will pass on these values to our next generation.”

She shared with us some screenshots of the hate messages she has been receiving on her X account.

She further states, “but ever since I took a decision to go out and serve public and join active politics, my life has changed.  The hate I have received is what I never expected. ”

Last week, she was voted out by the National Candidate Selection Committee and her political career has taken a “short break”, as she states. Her supporters are disappointed but standing with her. “These online trolls who abuse me each day give me more strength to work even harder. This is my strength as a woman and as a proud Sanatani. I am a Kashmiri Hindu and our families have seen worse times. This is nothing”.

She has received threatening emails and calls from unknown numbers a few times as well.
