International Student in Sarnia stabbed to death, accused charged with second-degree murder
5th December 2024 – Sarnia Police Service has confirmed that an international student from India who was a student at Lambton College in Sarnia has been killed. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old, Gurasis Singh.
On Sunday December 1, 2024 at 4:59 AM, police responded to a 911 call at residence on Queen Street south of Talfourd Street in Sarnia for a report of a stabbing. Police reported that during the early morning hours, two residents of a rooming house at 194 Queen Street in Sarnia were involved in a physical altercation while in the kitchen. During the altercation, one resident accessed a knife and stabbed the other multiple times, killing him.
Crossley Hunter, 36-years-old, of Sarnia has been charged with second degree murder and appeared by video before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. His next appearance will be by video on Friday December 6, 2024.
The accused and the victim were known to each other in that they shared space in the same rooming house. Police do not believe that this was a racially motivated crime.
