Canadians mock Jagmeet Singh and raise funds for his pension

In an epic mockery of NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, common Canadians have started a gofundme campaign to help him get his pension. As per the fundraiser, Canadians ‘need to have an election in Canada right now.’ And the only thing that is stopping elections from happening right now is Jagmeet Singh’s $2.3 million dollar pension, reads the fundraiser.
Matthew Furman, who started this campaign, wrote that he has requested the account details of the NDP leader but has not heard back from Singh’s team.

The Liberal Party under Justin Trudeau has been running the government in coalition with the NDP since 2015.
Even though Singh has criticized the Liberal government on several fronts including declining economy, rising inflation and housing crisis, he has not withdrawn his support.

In September this year, NDP confirmed that it is terminating the supply and confidence agreement with the Liberal government. This agreement between Liberals and NDP ensured that NDP supported Liberals on ‘confidence votes in exchange for legislative commitments on NDP priorities’.

However, early this month, the federal government survived its 3rd Non-Confidence vote which was initiated by the Conservatives.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has also accused Singh of being a greedy politician who won’t risk an early federal election because it could thwart his plans on collecting a lucrative government pension.
The Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre, has accused Singh to keep Liberals in the power. Singh had asked for a resignation from Trudeau but has failed to call for elections. In a tweet, Poilievre said, “his (Trudeau’s) top minister – Sellout Jagmeet Singh- refuses to pull NDP support for the Liberals.”
