Canadian Hindu Temple in Mississauga defaced with anti-India graffiti
14th February 2023 – Another Canadian Hindu Temple has now been vandalized by unknown miscreants, this time in the City of Mississauga which is part of Region of Peel.
Ram Mandir, a well known Hindu temple in the area of Kennedy Road and Derry Road, was the target of anti-India and anti-Hindu forces working in Canada.
On the back walls of the temple, slogans such as “Declare Modi Terrorist (BBC)”, “Hindustan Murdabad (death to India)” and “Sant Bhindrawala is Martyr” were spray painted.
The Indian Consulate in Toronto has condemned the attack and tweeted, “We strongly condemn the defacing of Ram Mandir in Mississauga with anti-India graffiti. We have requested Canadian authorities to investigate the incident and take prompt action on perpetrators.”
City of Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie also wrote on Twitter, “I am angered by the hateful and divisive graffiti defacing @missrammandir today. These blatant attacks are not reflective of our City and region’s diversity and will not be tolerated. @PeelPolice are investigating and working with the community to ensure their safety.”
This is second such attack in this New Year in a period of less than a fortnight. In the last week of January, Brampton’s Shri Gauri Shankar Mandir was also defaced with anti-India slogans.
